Emergency Bunny Rescue- One Week Update

Our rescue of over 100 bunnies from a Phoenix backyard began one week ago. The following is a recap of Week One.

• The Tranquility Trail Emergency Rescue Team caught 105 bunnies.

• All 105 have been separated by sex ensuring no more pregnancies.

• The Emergency Rescue Team continues the search for bunnies in the underground burrows.

• Burrows have started to be filled in as we verify all bunnies are out.

• Phoenix area vets were contacted regarding help to spay/neuter all bunnies.

• To date four vets have offered their assistance at a reduce rate for spay/neuters with three offering free health exams.

• Seven bunnies were transferred to United Animal Friends in Prescott, AZ where they will be put up for adoption.

• Spay and neuter surgeries begin Tuesday, July 13th.

• Health exams began on the bunnies most in need of medical attention.

• House Rabbit Society awarded Tranquility Trail an Emergency Rescue Grant for $700. Thank you!

• Channel 3 and Channel 15 News ran stories about the rescue operation.

• Arizona Republic ran story on rescue operation.

• As of Monday, July 12th the Emergency Rescue Medical Fund received donations in the amount of $2435.00 plus a $700 HRS Grant totaling $3135.00. Thank you to everyone for your donations!

• A six month budget for the entire emergency operation is being finalized. The estimated cost for the medical expenses for this operation has been raised to $9000.00 as our vets find more medical issues.

• Numerous donations of needed supplies are dropped off at the sanctuary. Thank you!

• Ace Hardware of Prescott, AZ donated 10 bags of litter and copy paper. Thank you!

• New Volunteer Trainings scheduled as many area residents offer to help with the bunnies.

• A special thank you to our volunteers who have been putting in long hours ensuring the Binkytown bunnies and the Emergency Rescue bunnies are being well cared for.

• A special thank you to our Facebook friends! You have all been amazing in your support.
